Cedar Point, which was first developed as a recreational area in 1870, is located on a 365-acre peninsula in Sandusky, Ohio. With a history dating back more than 130 years, Cedar Point, named for the groves of cedar trees that once dominated the peninsula, is the second oldest amusement park in North America.

Cedar Point serves a six state region in the Midwestern United States, which includes nearly all of Ohio and Michigan, western Pennsylvania and New York, northern West Virginia and Indiana, and southwestern Ontario, Canada. The park’s total market area includes approximately 26 million people.

With its 69 rides, including 16 roller coasters, Cedar Point is home to more rides and top-rated roller coasters than any other park in the world.

The main amusement areas of Cedar Point consist of more than two miles of midways, with more than 69 rides and attractions, including, new for the 2003 season, Top Thrill Dragster, the world's tallest and fastest roller coaster which will reach a height of 420 feet and speeds of up to 120 mph; the 310-foot-tall Millennium Force, the world's #1-rated roller coaster; Magnum XL-200, the first roller coaster in the world to break the 200-foot-tall barrier; Mean Streak, one of the world's tallest and fastest wooden coasters; Raptor, which debuted as the tallest, fastest and steepest inverted roller coaster in the world; and Mantis, one of the world’s tallest, fastest and steepest stand-up coasters. Cedar Point also offers a variety of family attractions, including more than 25 rides just for kids; Camp Snoopy, a family play-land themed around the popular PEANUTS comic strip characters; and the ice-skating extravaganza "Snoopy Rocks! On Ice".

Complementing these rides and attractions are the Cedar Point Beach; Challenge Park, an extra charge area featuring two miniature golf courses, three go-kart tracks, and RipCord, a free-fall ride of more than 15 stories; and Soak City water park, which is located next to Cedar Point.

Situated on 18-acres, Soak City offers visitors more than 20 water rides and attractions, including Zoom Flume, a family style raft ride, two children's areas, a wave pool, three enclosed slides, two river rafting rides, and 11 other body, speed and raft slides. For adults, Soak City has a special area with a hot tub and swim-up pool bar. A separate charge is required for admission to Soak City, which is operated seasonally from May to September.

Cedar Point also operates four hotels. The park's largest hotel, the historic Hotel Breakers, has more than 600 guestrooms, including 230 in the 10-story Breakers Tower. The Hotel Breakers offers various dining and lounge facilities, a private beach with lake swimming, two outdoor pools and a conference center. Breakers Tower has 18 tower suites with spectacular views, an indoor pool, and a TGI Friday's restaurant. Breakers Express is a 350-room, limited-service seasonal hotel that is located near the Causeway entrance to the park. In addition to the Hotel Breakers and Breakers Express, Cedar Point offers the lakefront Sandcastle Suites Hotel, which features 187 suites, a private beach with lake swimming, a courtyard pool, tennis courts and the Breakwater Cafe. The park's only year-round hotel is the 237-room Radisson Harbour Inn, located at the Causeway entrance to the park with an adjoining TGI Friday's restaurant. In total, Cedar Point's hotel properties offer more than 1,400 guestrooms.

In addition, Cedar Point operates the Cedar Point Marina, one of the largest full-service marinas on the Great Lakes; Camper Village, which provides sites for approximately 225 recreational vehicles; and Lighthouse Point, featuring lakefront cottages, cabins and full-service RV campsites.
