Knott's Berry Farm, which was acquired by Cedar Fair in late 1997, first opened as a tea room and
berry market in 1920. In 1934, Mrs. Knott served her first "famous fried chicken dinner,"
and by 1940 people were waiting in long lines for a taste of what has become a family tradition. Since
then, more than 200 million guests have visited the park.
Today, Knott's Berry Farm is one of several year-round theme parks in Southern California and serves
a total market area of approximately 20 million people centered in Orange County, and a large national
and international tourism population. Comprised of six themed areas covering more than 160 acres, the
park offers its guests a perfect mix of rides, live shows, children's activities and special
attractions.
Knott's Berry Farm is home to a variety of great thrill rides, including Xcelerator, a 205-foot-tall
roller coaster that launches riders from zero to 82 mph in only 2.3 seconds; Supreme Scream, one of
the world's tallest thrill rides; and Ghost Rider, one of the longest wooden coasters in the
West.
The park is also renowned for its industry acclaimed special events, such as its Christmas promotion,
"Knott's Merry Farm," and its spectacular Halloween event, "Knott's Scary Farm,"
the largest and scariest Halloween party in the world.
Knott's Berry Farm also owns and operates the Radisson Resort Hotel, a 321-room, full-service hotel
located adjacent to the park, which features exceptional dining, two lighted tennis courts, a resort
pool with spa and 20,000 square feet of meeting space. The hotel is located just 10 minutes from
Disneyland and just 45 minutes from Los Angeles International Airport, Hollywood and the beaches.
