Valleyfair, which opened in 1976 and was acquired by the Partnership's predecessor in 1978, is located
near Minneapolis-St. Paul in Shakopee, Minnesota, and is the largest amusement park in Minnesota.
Valleyfair’s market area is centered in Minneapolis-St. Paul, which has a population of approximately
two million, but the park also draws visitors from other areas in Minnesota and surrounding states
with a combined population of eight million people.
Situated on approximately 125 acres, Valleyfair offers guests more than 35 rides and attractions,
including Steel Venom, a 185-foot-tall impulse coaster, which is new for the 2003 season; Power
Tower, a 275-foot-tall thrill ride; Wild Thing, one of the tallest and fastest roller coasters in the
world; Mad Mouse, a family-style roller coaster; and four additional roller coasters. Among its other
attractions, the park also offers a white-water raft ride, a nostalgic train ride, a giant ferris
wheel and the Pepsi-Cola IMAX Movie Theatre with its 60-foot-tall screen.
For added entertainment, Valleyfair has the Whitewater Country water park and Challenge Park, an
extra-charge attraction area, featuring RipCord, Adventure Golf and a go-cart raceway.
